Zap NIP Day

On this day the Bitcoin Lightning Network is wedded to the Nostr network. Damus developer William Cassarin's' Lightning Zaps NIP-57 is merged to the Nostr NIP repo. NIP-57 allows lightning invoice receipts, which enable display of LN payments on the Nostr network.

The death of Mt. Gox

On this day in 2013, Mt. Gox, the largest bitcoin exchange in the world, went offline due to insolvency. At the time, Mt. Gox was the most widely used bitcoin currency exchange market. Mt. Gox closed February 25, 2014 and has since filed for bankruptcy protection in Japan and the United States, after losing 640 thousand bitcoins.
