On this day in 2013, the first Bitcoin ATM in the world was installed at Waves Coffee House in Vancouver, Canada, by the company Robocoin. The machine contained a built-in palm scanner designed to prevent users from processing more than $3,000 CAD per day and comply with anti-money-laundering regulations. On its first day, the ATM processed over $10,000 in transactions. By 2024, there would be over 38,000 Bitcoin ATMs worldwide, making it easier than ever to acquire BTC with cash.
